Therapy Products:Tips & Info for Equine Use

When do I change the batteries?
For Micro Current units requiring 9 Volt Batteries we recommend you use a Volt Ohm Meter to be sure the battery is above 8 volts. Or change the battery every 18 hours to be sure you are getting full output of the unit. The lights will dim as the battery looses voltage and will go out completely when the battery is dead. If you treat in these later stages (below 8.5 volts) of battery life the unit is not operating a full capacity and treatment is diminished.

Self Adhesive Electrodes
The film covering the electrode is sticky. Some horses will cook off this layer quickly. You can toss this away and apply Tac Gel to make sticky again or use as a non sticky surface and add conductive gel. The sticky costs pennies and is nice while it lasts. It just helps them stay on a bit better while affixing the tape. You still have a good electrode whether they are sticky or not. In either case you still need conductive gel when treating horses.

Black Carbon Electrodes
The 1.5" x 3.5" black carbon electrodes are in your Electrode Kit simply for their long durability. Perfect for horses withers and other heavy use areas. They are nice when treating dogs also. Carbon electrodes are limited in sizes that meet micro current requirements. IE: 3 inch carbon rounds sold with E-Stim devices seldom pass microamperage adequately. So, no we do not stock larger sized rubber carbon electrodes.

If you Hate Tape
We have a new product called Strap-It's. Strap-It's are fast on stretch elastic with velcro ends. Each kit comes with
(8) straps in various sizes that are great for holding electrodes onto legs and holding wires securely out of the way.

Keep your Masking Tape Fresh
Store in a Zip Lock bag between uses. This really does help keep tape sticky.

What kind of Gel do I Use?
Moisture must be maintained for current to pass through animal hair. The Matrix Gel with Arnica is ideal when treating very sore areas, inflammation and areas in spasm. It will clearly add to the value of your treatment. The Matrix Gel has Sonigel for increased conductivity added to the product. Be careful to not use Arnica Products such a Sore No More when using current. (caustic ingredients such Witch Hazel may irritate the skin). For general use any high viscosity ultrasound /TENS gel works nicely. Plain Aloe Gel works well too, but may require checking for dryness if treatments are over 15-20 minutes.

How long will the Silver Knit Products Last?
Years! The leg wraps will start to fray on the edges. You can machine wash and let air dry all silver knit products
Do not put away wet. That's it.

Repairs
We can do many small repairs here. For wires etc. just return and send a note. There may or may not be a charge.
Shop time is $ 68.00 per hour plus parts. If having an instrument problem call ahead first. We may be able to
help resolve it over the phone. And yes, the rumor is true, in may cases we are able to do repairs on other related therapy products and that no longer have a support system. You must get prior approval before sending. You pay shipping both ways unless a a problems is discovered ("Out of the Box'') and the product was purchased directly from Matrix Therapy Products Corp. In that case, Matrix pays the return shipping charge.

Animal usage voids many factory warranties do to the environment they are used in. However, with years in this
