Whole Body Vibration (WBV)

How Vibration Platforms can Help Your Horse

Thoroughbred in rehabilitation on vibration platform
Young Thoroughbred being introduced to a vibration platform at Pegasus Rehabilitation Center in Redmond, WA.
Vibration platforms utilizing Whole Body Vibration therapy are now available for horses and people from Matrix Therapy Products. The EquiVibe for animals and the smaller VibePlates for people are simple-to-use and highly effective frequency-controlled vibration platforms.

Whole Body Vibration (WBV) assists in rehabilitation and physical maintenance by stimulating muscles without physical exertion. Using vibration platforms helps maintain bone density and muscle tone for horses or people in recovery. Vibration therapy can also help protect against bone bruising and leg fractures, as well as heal hoof cracks in horses.

Vibration platforms have the unique ability to preserve and improve bone density, which prepares horses for the stresses and rigors of athletic training. EquiVibe vibration platforms are ideal for training operations with young horses entering athletic training to help prevent lay-ups from bone bruising and fractures.

Whole Body Vibration therapy is still relatively unknown, but has the ability to address bone-related issues previously impossible to heal. For instance, treatment sessions on the EquiVibe can stimulate increased bone growth and fill in holes from OCD.

To treat with a vibration platform, simply lead your horse onto the platform, which is only raised 5 inches, and turn on the EquiVibe. Treatments last up to 20 minutes and the horses tend to relax and appear to enjoy the sensation.
