Matrix MCT Patch

Matrix MicroCurrent Therapy (MCT) PatchMatrix MCT Patch being secured with Vet Wrap

The Matrix MCT Patch is a battery-operated, disposable microcurrent device ideal for 24/7 pain relief and for promoting the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Microcurrent therapy was introduced in the mid-1970s as a non-needle acupuncture device. Soon after, it became a proven therapy for pain and soft tissue injuries. Studies have shown that microcurrent therapy promotes Type 1 collagen production, not Type 3 (scar tissue), in tendons and ligaments, reducing the incidence of chronic degeneration and re-injury.

The microcurrent patch is a modern, drug-free treatment that is easy to use and store. The patches are safe around water and provide an average of 200 to 500 hours of use. Hours vary by injury type. Fresh or more severe injuries will drain the battery faster initially than at the end of the healing cycle. Using a microcurrent machine first, then applying the MCT Patch as continued treatment and support, maximizes the hours.

The Matrix MCT Patch can be used to treat any part of the horse’s body where it can be safely applied and secured. Exceptions are pregnant animals, directly over open wounds, and horses with laminitis.

The design is simple. Once prepped and applied, a red light comes on and blinks. When removed and placed on the storage pads, it stops. The blinking indicates the frequency, and the current starts at 45 microamps and diminishes with use.

Since 2000, there have been various styles and specifications culminating in this latest version. This product is quite amazing as a standalone treatment and is worth the small investment to have on hand. It is not rechargeable to keep the circuit size small and ensure safety.

Hoof abscesses can cause weeks of downtime for our horses. With the Matrix MCT Patch Hoof Kit, model abscesses are often resolved in days rather than weeks. After the Epsom salt soak, the MCT patch is applied to the bottom of the foot and the return pad at the coronet band, and the area is dressed as usual.

To use this product, you will need these supplies on hand: Ultrasound gel and/or adhesive gel, vet wrap, scissors, and water for legs. If using on back, withers or other locations use tape (model #TP -W260) to secure.
